Discover the innovative approach behind the interactive exhibition “ZUKUNFT NAHVERKEHR”. We have designed a captivating journey from the countryside to the city, with different mobility solutions of tomorrow presented in each “journey section”. Following the concept “From Train to Future”, an abstract train stretches through the centre of the exhibition towards the future. This serves as a symbol for the diverse possibilities of travel icon tomorrow, which are not limited to train journeys alone. Instead, the four different “train compartments” represent the multimodal future of public transport.

Each of the four compartments represents a specific vehicle type or location, starting with the on-demand shuttle compartment, then leading to the regional train/subway compartment, continuing to the hybrid compartment (with underground, tram and bus) and finally ending in the station concourse. In these compartments, digital travel scenarios are presented in which the personalities Rita and Akay play the main roles.

The visitor gets to know their personal multimodal journey and the different offers they use on the way. In addition, the compartments convey to the visitor the outstanding qualities of public transport in the form of oversized statements: it is flexible, reliable, simple, safe, comfortable, fast and sustainable.
The compartments serve not only as an introduction to new sections of the journey, but also as a linear guide for the visitor tour.

The journey continues in the hybrid compartment, which mirrors the interior of a tram/subway and is transferred to the replacement transport. The two-part section of the replacement transport consists of a white ‘construction site’ to draw attention to future construction projects and the importance of replacement transport.
